In a thrilling Final match of the Japan Cup Kansai Division 1, the Royal Osaka Tigers faced off against the Osaka Lions in a high-stakes encounter at the Kaizuka Cricket Field. The Royal Osaka Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a target of 152 for the Osaka Lions to chase.

The Tigers got off to a shaky start, losing early wickets to the disciplined bowling of Suminda Sanjaya and Sanath Fernando. Kunwar Mahender and Harshpreet Singh fell quickly, leaving the Tigers reeling at 17/2. However, Fayyaz Syed Muhammad and Nikith Padala steadied the innings with a partnership before both fell to the sharp bowling of Dillen Buultjens.

Sunny Singh played a captain’s knock, anchoring the innings with a well-made fifty and guiding the Tigers to a competitive total of 151/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Abhinav Mahajan chipped in with a valuable contribution to push the team’s total past the 150-run mark.

In response, the Osaka Lions started steadily but lost wickets at regular intervals, with the Royal Osaka Tigers bowlers maintaining tight lines and picking up crucial breakthroughs. Akash Vaid and Sunny Singh led the bowling attack, picking up two wickets each and putting pressure on the Lions’ middle order.

Despite a valiant effort from Dhanushka Sanjeewa, who top-scored with an unbeaten 43, the Lions fell short of the target, finishing at 134/8 in their 20 overs. The Tigers’ disciplined bowling and sharp fielding proved to be the difference as they clinched a hard-fought victory to lift the Japan Cup Kansai Division 1 title.

Sunny Singh was the standout performer of the match, scoring a crucial fifty and picking up two wickets to be named the Player of the Match for his all-round contribution. His leadership and composure under pressure were instrumental in guiding the Royal Osaka Tigers to a memorable victory in the Final.
